Narratives
Unless
noted otherwise, each author of narratives included herein retains all
intellectual property rights normally accruing to any author, and
specifically the rights and protections provided by National and
International Copyright law. Any copying, reproduction or publication
not authorized by the respective author is a violation of law and
subject to prosecution under appropriate statutes. Making the material
available on the Internet should not be construed as diminishing or
vacating any of the author's rights and specifically does not release
the author's creation into the public domain unless so noted on
and for a specific narrative
For the Authors
Participants
in any SAR effort may submit a personal narrative of the experience,
but good order and decorum require adherence to the following:
- You may submit a narrative directly to combatsar_webmaster@yahoo.com,
as
e-mail or as an attachment.
- Each document submitted for the Narratives must contain in the
heading or Title, either a:
- Valid Copyright notice, (which is defined as:
- the word Copyright; [Use of the © symbol is
pointless as it will not stand in lieu of the word and adds nothing to
it.]
- the four-digit year in which the document was
created; and
- the name of the person or entity claiming the
Copyright protection.); or,
- a statement from the author releasing the work into the
public domain.
- Always include your name and the name and date of the SAR.
(Multiple days on the same SAR are worthy of multiple Narratives.)
- Be a good story teller, strike a balance between
wordiness and terseness.
- Never identify any other individual closer than callsign.
- Do not use the Narratives as a forum for acrimony, propagandizing
or agendizing.
- Gratuitous vulgarity is the cherished tool of Hollywood's
writers, but if you feel it is required in the telling of the story...
- Every good story has a moral or point or lesson learned. Share it
with us. ("I learned about SAR from this")
- In the final analysis, it is your story; tell it
the way you want it told.
