What information about me do you collect and how is it used?
CSAR! collects only that personal information that you voluntarily choose to share with us. We DO NOT rent, sell or share information concerning our people to any third party and have no intention of ever engaging in such practices.
When you visit our website, CSAR! does not collect or store any personally identifiable information about you unless you choose to join the Society. However, we may collect and store certain data about your use of our website. This is done on an purely anonymous basis, and is collected for all hits on our site. The information collected may include the time and date you visited the site, the pages you looked at, and your IP address and domain name. We will never link this information to anything personally identifiable to you. We only use this information for system administration and to help us develop ideas about how we might tailor our site to improve your enjoyment of the time you spend with us. This information is never disclosed to third parties and will not be used to contact you in any way.
The personal information you will be asked to provide if you choose to join CSAR! is nothing more than that any organization asks its members to provide. This will include information such as your name, your mailing, street and e-mail addresses, telephone numbers where you can be reached, and any previous involvement in Combat Search and Rescue. Submission of this information is strictly voluntary and certainly not required as evidence of your interests in Combat Search and Rescue. If you choose to share any personal information with us, we may store it for our own administrative use as well as making it available in a limited way to other visitors to the site as a means of providing a locator service for people of like interests. If the information is sent as part of a website evaluation, we may also use the information to contact you about your comments. However, under no circumstances will we ever give or sell your information to other entities.
You may decide to send CSAR! personally identifying information in an e-mail message which might contain information or inquiries about other CSAR! people. CSAR! will use this information to identify you to respond to the electronic mail. We will only use the information obtained to resolve the issue identified in the e-mail. CSAR! never sells e-mail addresses.
Do you offer opt-out services?
Members joining CSAR! may choose to withhold their personal data from the lists comprising the locator services. In the event we implement electronic newsletters or similar broadcast mail systems in the future, these services will be offered on an opt-in basis. Currently, we do not mass e-mail or provide such information to outside mailing lists.
What if information I submit subsequently changes?
By menu selection, logging in and following the screen prompts, each member may gain access to and edit their own information at any time. No one outside CSAR! Administration can access your personal information without your password.
Is CSAR! responsible for all of the material on your website?
CSAR! maintains sole responsibility for, and authority over, all information contained on its website. However, we may post links to sites that we do not control and CSAR! cannot be responsible for the privacy practices or content of these sites.
What's your policy regarding children's use of your website?
While CSAR! encourages everyone to visit our site and and we are firm in the belief that people of all ages can learn something here, we have no desire to collect information from those under age 18. Any instance of personal information about a minor being collected would be purely accidental and unintentional. If a minor would like to submit information to CSAR!, we ask that the child's parent submit the information on the child's behalf. Parents are strongly encouraged to take an active role in their children's use of the Internet and to take whatever steps they deem neccessary to provide the appropriate protection.
What about SAR Narrative copy?
Personal narratives of an individual's participation in a particular SAR effort may be submitted to and may be used on the website in association with that particular SAR effort. You may wish to visit the Narratives page for further information on constraints applicable to authors and if you have reservations about content that a young family member might encounter you are encouraged to share the experience with that family member and take a parental interest in what they are allowed to view on the web.
